This summer, Kennebec Valley Chiropractic is teaming up with The Kennebec Valley
Kruisers to host a training series that’s sure to get Augusta moving. The Couch to 5k
program is designed to take anyone—that’s right, anyone—and transform them into a
runner over the course of ten weeks.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone who’s interested in running a 5k is welcome to join the training program—
absolutely no running experience is required.*

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
A pair of running shoes, a watch (doesn’t need to be fancy), comfortable clothes, and a
willingness to try.

WHEN DOES THE TRAINING PROGRAM START?
The program starts on Saturday, June 25th, and meets every Saturday morning until
August 27th. Sessions will go from 7-8:30 am.

WHAT WILL WE DO AT THE TRAINING SESSIONS?
The group will meet at 7 o’clock sharp inside Kennebec Valley Chiropractic on Water
Street. We’ll review the morning’s workout, warm up, stretch, and hit the Rail Trail for our
25-30 minute workout. After the workout, we’ll meet back at the office for a brief training
seminar. Here’s a list of topics that we’ll cover:

                            choosing the right footwear
                            stretching
                            treating sports injuries
                            core strengthening
                            recovery nutrition
                            leg strengthening
                            running safety
                            increasing your mileage
                            getting ready to race
                            Race!

WILL WE RUN AN ACTUAL 5k RACE?
We’ll cap off the program with our very own 5k ‘race’ around Augusta. Runners are
encouraged to invite their friends and family to cheer them on. Runners will also be
encouraged to sign up for The UMA 5k on September 17th.

WHAT’S THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?
The program cost is $29 until May 31st, and $39 after June 1st. Your registration fee
includes 10 group workouts, 10 training seminars, a team t-shirt, a complimentary 15
minute massage and chiropractic consultation, and one half-priced massage. The
complimentary 15 minute massages will be available during and after the training session
on August 13th.
